Abstract | |||||||||||||||||||||||
This paper presents a learning activity around the Wikipedia. Students are asked to write and review entries related to the course subjects using a collaborative environment provided by the wiki tools. This paper proposes a five-stages methodology for this task in the framework of an academic course. The activity has been successfully introduced in a two different study programs of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), on audiovisual telecommunications courses in bachelor and master programs. After three editions of the activity, a total of 272 articles have been created with an article per student ratio of 1.91. The public nature of the resulting work has increased student's enthusiasm and dedication in writing assignments, as well as their quality.
This work was initially presented at the CIDUI (4th International Congress on University Teaching and Innovation), Barcelona. 5th-7th July 2006: | |||||||||||||||||||||||
